Miele’s New Master Chef Cooktops Sizzle (And Simmer) For Pure Culinary Perfection
Richmond Hill, Ontario– July 31, 2002 - Miele, the family-owned appliance company founded in 1899, introduces the Master Chef Collection of cooktops designed specifically for the American home. The new products unveiled include three new electric cooktops and two gas cooktops.
“These new cooktops were developed through intensive studies of American culinary habits, by which our engineers gained insights into new features North American chefs will find very helpful,” states Nick Ord, President of Miele USA. “The Master Chef Collection is yet another example of how we continually strive to create innovative, quality solutions to enhance the customers’ experience with our appliances.”
“Even if you’re not a chef, the Master Chef Collection delivers performance that lets you cook like one,” says Matthew Kueny, Manager of Miele USA’s Product Development Group. “We considered every detail: the sleek design, ease of use and installation, safety, and most important… amazing cooking. For instance when simmering, the burners provide continuous low BTU output (620 BTU), so there’s no interruption of heat, or cycling, which can be detrimental to many recipes. The gas cooktops also have an extremely high total BTU output (73,800 BTU), so you can sear or simmer to perfection.”
Since North Americans tend to use big pots more frequently, Miele’s engineers moved the larger burners to the front of the cooktop, as opposed to the standard European rear placement. They also positioned controls and burners to accommodate two large pots simultaneously, and a continuous grate design to allow pots to be moved from burner to burner without lifting.
These hot new cooktops are the first ever designed by Miele’s German engineers in standard inch dimensions (24”, 30” & 36”) rather than in European metric measurements. The result: fabulous European design and performance that can easily be installed in both custom and off-the-shelf kitchen cabinetry.
The Master Chef Collection gives designers and discerning consumers ultimate flexibility for creating the customized professional look that’s perfect for their kitchen. The electric cooktops have a smooth black Ceran surface that’s easy to clean. They can be fitted with black or stainless knobs, as well as sleek concealed infrared controls. The gas cooktops come in black, white or stainless, with black or stainless knobs. They also offer the choice of round or linear grate patterns with completely sealed burners for easy cleaning.
The 36” KM342 and 42” KM344 gas cooktops range in price from $2,049 to $2,299.
The 24” KM421, 30” KM424 and 36” KM427 electric cooktops range in price from $1,349 to $1,749.
