Coffee grounds wet/coffee too weak

Clean and degrease the brew unit.

Cleaning the brew unit:

• CM xxxx: Disconnect the coffee machine from the power supply.

• Open the coffee machine door.

• CVA 7xxx: Remove the water container.
  CVA 5xxx and 6xxx: Remove the water container, grounds container, and the ground coffee chute cover.

• To unlock the brew unit, first press and hold the button at the bottom of the handle on the brew unit.

• While doing so, turn the handle of the brew unit to the left.

• Carefully pull the brew unit out of the coffee machine.

• When you have removed the brew unit, do not change the position of the handle on the brew unit.

  Otherwise, the brew unit cannot be reinserted.

• The moving parts of the brew unit are lubricated.

  Cleaning agents will damage the brew unit.

  Clean the brew unit by hand under warm running water without using any liquid dish soap.

• CM xxxx and CVA 7xxx:

• CVA 5xxx and 6xxx:

• 

• Wipe any coffee grounds off the filters (see arrows).

• Dry the funnel to prevent ground coffee from sticking to it the next time a coffee is made.

• Clean the interior of the coffee machine. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dry ground coffee residues.

Degreasing the brew unit:

• CM xxxx and CVA 7xxx:

• 

• Drop a cleaning tablet into the top of the brew unit (arrow).

• Push the brew unit containing the cleaning tablet back into the coffee machine.

• To lock the brew unit, first press and hold the button at the bottom of the handle of the brew unit.

• While doing so, turn the handle of the brew unit to the right.

• CVA 7xxx: Push the water container into the coffee machine.
  The process of removing and inserting the brew unit causes ground coffee to drop into the drip tray. Remove the drip tray and clean the lid. Push the drip tray back into the coffee machine.

• Close the door of the coffee machine.

• Clean the brew unit with the cleaning tablet for degreasing using the Degrease brew unit or Clean brew unit maintenance program.

• CVA 5xxx and 6xxx:

• Push the brew unit back into the coffee machine.

• To lock the brew unit, first press and hold the button at the bottom of the handle of the brew unit.

• While doing so, turn the handle of the brew unit to the right.

• Reinstall the water container, grounds container, and the ground coffee chute cover.

• Close the door of the coffee machine.

• Select the Degrease brew unit maintenance program in the Maintenance area under Main menu.

• 

• When the display shows Insert cleaning tablet in ground coffee chute and close, remove the cover for the ground coffee chute and open the lid for the ground coffee chute.

• Place the cleaning tablet in the ground coffee chute.

• Close the lid for the ground coffee chute, reattach the cover, and close the appliance door.

• Follow the instructions on the display.

• When the display shows Process finished, confirm the message with OK.

Set the quantity of coffee to a higher level.

You can set the quantity of coffee in the menu Drinks -> Edit -> Change drink -> Drink parameters -> Quantity of coffee.

Manually adjust the grinder setting to a finer degree in increments:

• Open the coffee machine door.

• CM xxxx:

• 

• CVA 7xxx: Remove the water container. The slide control for adjusting the grinder setting is located on the top left behind the water container.

• 

• CVA 5xxx and 6xxx:

• 

• Push the slide control exactly 1 setting to the left (for finer grinding).

• Close the appliance door.

• Make one cup of coffee.

Adjust the grinder setting by 1 level again, if required.

Clean the ground coffee chute as follows:

• Open the appliance door on the right-hand side of the coffee machine.

• 

• Turn the handle (see arrow) to the left to remove the ground coffee drawer.

• The ground coffee drawer can be cleaned in the dishwasher, or by hand using a mild solution of warm water and liquid dish soap.

• Dry the ground coffee drawer.

• Remove any ground coffee residues from the ground coffee chute with a soft, dry cloth.

• Reinsert the ground coffee drawer.

• Turn the handle to the right to close the ground coffee chute.

• Close the appliance door.

Use a vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove any coffee residues from the bean container and the ground coffee chute.

Clean the ground coffee chute as follows:

• Open the appliance door on the right-hand side of the coffee machine.

• Remove the ground coffee drawer.

• 

• Insert the vacuum cleaner attachment.

• Use the suction wand of your vacuum cleaner to vacuum out the ground coffee chute.

• Remove the vacuum cleaner attachment.

• Reinsert the ground coffee drawer.

• Close the coffee machine door.
