No milk froth/milk froth too runny/too thick from central spout (CVA 5xxx built-in appliance)

No milk froth is being delivered by the central spout of the coffee machine or the milk froth is too runny or too thick (CVA 5xxx built-in appliance).

The milk temperature is too high.

Good milk froth can only be achieved when cold milk (below 50°F/10°C) is used.

Check the temperature of the milk in the milk flask.

If the temperature is above 50°F (10°C), refrigerate the milk.

The air supply for the milk froth is clogged.

CVA 5xxx: Clean the central spout.

  • Removing | Central spout cover | Built-in coffee machine
  • Pull the central spout all the way down (1).

  • Remove the lid by pulling it forward (2).

  • Pushing out | Central spout insert | Built-in coffee machine
  • Turn the lid over.

  • Push the insert up and out from inside the cover.

  • Clean both parts thoroughly.

  • Then slide the insert back into the lid until it clicks into place.

  • Pulling out | Central spout nozzles | Built-in coffee machine
  • Pull the nozzles out of the central spout.

  • Pulling out | Nozzle rubber stoppers | Built-in coffee machine
  • Pull out the two rubber stoppers (1).

  • Thoroughly clean the nozzles and both rubber stoppers.

  • If necessary, pull off the air intake pipe (2). Loosen any blockages by kneading or blowing through the air intake pipe.

  • If the opening is enlarged, too much air will enter the milk froth.

This will then become too coarse and too thick.

Do not use pointed objects to clean the air intake pipe.

  • Then reinsert the rubber stoppers in the nozzles.

  • Pushing in | Central spout nozzles | Built-in coffee machine
  • After cleaning, push the central spout nozzles into the coffee machine and press them upward firmly to ensure they are positioned securely.

  • Reattach the lid of the central spout.

  • Push the central spout up.

You can now use the appliance again as normal.

The air intake pipe is blocked or the opening of the air intake pipe is enlarged.

If the opening is enlarged, too much air will enter the milk froth.

This will then become too coarse and too thick.

Do not use pointed objects to clean the air intake pipe.

Pulling out | Air intake pipe – nozzles | Built-in coffee machine

CVA 5xxx: Replace the air intake pipe (2) with the replacement air intake pipe. The replacement air intake pipe is included with the coffee machine.
If you no longer have a replacement air intake pipe, you can order the air intake pipe labelled “Bypass” from the spares service (for which you will be charged).
Alternatively, clean the dirty air intake pipe in the dishwasher.

To remove any residual water from the tip of the air intake pipe, blow into the air intake pipe after cleaning.
