French Style Cheesy Gnocchi

Email

From Canada's premier Maître Fromager, Afrim Pristine.

Take a culinary journey around the world, exploring the incredible versatility and rich flavours of cheese.

Although gnocchi is traditionally Italian, some of Afrim’s most memorable gnocchi dishes were in Paris bistros. The addition of Comté cheese brings a French twist to this comforting dish.

Ingredients:

100g grated Comté cheese
1 pack of good-quality gnocchi (Mamma Emma brand)
Lemon zest
Salted butter
Black pepper
Chicken stock
Finely chopped chives

Preparation:

  1. Make the Cheese Sauce: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add black pepper, 50 ml of chicken stock, and half of the grated cheese. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce thickens.
  2. Add Butter and Gnocchi: Stir in the lemon zest and butter until the butter is melted. Add the gnocchi and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until they are pillowy soft. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit more chicken stock to thin it out.
  3. Finish with Cheese: Gently stir in the remaining cheese until melted, being careful not to break the gnocchi.
  4. Plate and Serve: Serve the gnocchi on a plate and garnish with finely chopped chives.
